Tax season is here again.

ST. PAUL – A free tax clinic available at the St. Paul Regional Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), also known as the Volunteer Income Tax program, is offering free tax services until April 30.

During the Town of St. Paul council meeting on March 24, Mayor Maureen Miller encouraged people to reach out to the FCSS office if they are interested in the program and meet the criteria.

“If you're new to the community, and you have a simple return . . . definitely give them a call,” she said.

Coun. Sid Sood, who sits on the FCSS board on behalf of the Town, explained some of the criteria include being a single income individual with an income below $35,000 - or $45,000 if it is a dual income household.

“It’s income-based,” said Sood, adding that last year, volunteers helped over 450 individuals file their taxes.

Residents can make an appointment by calling the FCSS office at 780-645-5311, or dropping by at the office. Residents must prepare all the necessary paperwork, including their tax slips, income support slips, and identification documents prior to their appointment.

It might take about a week to hear back from the FCSS.

The program is offered in partnership with the federal government through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP).
