This Canada Day will see a wide array of free family fun taking place around St. Paul, as bouncy houses, a bike parade and a dance performance highlight the events arranged for local families.
“We’ve added the bike parade for the kids on Canada Day,&” said volunteer organizer Sylvie Smyl. “We’ve brought back the Silhouette dance performance this year as well.&”
The festivities begin on June 30 at 5 p.m. outside the Rec Centre, as children can jump around in a bouncy house, get an inflatable friend from a balloon artist, clown around with carnival games and face painting, and get their fill with a variety of different food items from snow cones to a barbecue.
Monday night will also see a concert from the band Hoja from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m, followed by a special fireworks show in the skies of St. Paul.
The fun continues early on July 1 with a 7:30 a.m. pancake breakfast, with the Canada Day opening ceremonies taking place at 11 a.m. and a celebratory cake cutting at 1 p.m. Children’s activities from the previous day will all still be available for kids to take part in on Canada Day.
The afternoon of July 1 will see the first ever bike parade at 1 p.m., followed by the return of Silhouette Dance School Society’s Canada Day performance at 1:30 p.m.
“It’s for all ages, but it’s kind of aimed towards kids,&” Smyl said of the bike parade. “You can decorate your bicycle and then participate in the bike parade at the Rec Centre and then there will be prizes given out to participants.&”
