ST. PAUL – Over 850 spectators gathered at the St. Paul Ag Corral for the annual Spring Bullarama on March 22, hosted by the St. Paul Ag Society.
The rodeo also marks the beginning of the Bull Riders Canada (BRC) Season XIII.
Sean Dolan, president of the society, said 37 cowboys competed during the event, including participants from as far as Brazil and Australia. He said it took a lot of work to get everything together.
"There's hundreds of hours of volunteer work [and] lots of sponsorship coming from our great businesses and people in the Lakeland," said Dolan. "And when you have over 800 people in the arena, it just makes it all worth it."
Wayne Collins, one of the three contractors who provided the stock for the night, also told Lakeland This Week that several upgrades were made in the arena for this year's Bullarama, which includes the Ag Society installing a new roll-up door, allowing bulls to buck right out.
New stands and bigger benches were also installed to maximize viewing and seating capacity for spectators.
"We're constantly changing, [and] always evolving. We're trying to find bigger and better things to make this show grow better," said Collins. He thanked everybody who came out.
Following the rodeo, Dolan also asked the community to watch for some of the society's upcoming events this spring and summer, including the junior and senior high school rodeos on April 11 and 12.
