ST. PAUL - Staff members at a St. Paul school acted quickly on March 31 when an unknown person reportedly entered the St. Paul Elementary School.
According to information from St. Paul RCMP, they were notified of a male allegedly attempting to break into a residence in St. Paul at about 1 p.m.
"When police arrived, the suspect had moved from the residence to the nearby school. Police entered the school, found the male and arrested him without incident," reads information from RCMP.
Kellieka Formanek, public information officer with St. Paul RCMP, confirmed the school was St. Paul Elementary.
"The staff at the school stopped him as soon as he entered, and police were able to arrest him right away," said Formanek.
In a letter sent out to parents on April 1, the school noted that "At approximately 1:30 p.m. [March 31], an individual entered the school and was immediately met by school administration. RCMP were called and arrested the individual without incident."
The letter further states, "The situation was resolved swiftly and calmly, with no disruption to learning. No students witnessed the event, and all staff and students remained safe throughout."
A 45-year-old man was charged with break and enter and mischief under $5,000.
